Matt Burton

Managing Director

As Managing Director for Pacific Oak Capital Advisors, Matt is responsible for building and managing Pacific Oak’s Credit Corp debt funds. In this role, Matt supervises the day-to-day management of the funds, as well as participates on the investment committee. He provides leadership to Pacific Oak involving the secured debt obligations within Pacific Oak’s various ownership vehicles and its affiliates regarding property development.

Prior to joining Pacific Oak Capital Advisors, Matt was principal of Institutional Real Estate Investing at Pacifica Capital Partners, where he identified and partnered with “best-in-class” real estate developers and operators in all major West Coast markets. Prior to joining Pacifica Capital, Matt was president and chief investment officer for Mack Urban based in Los Angeles, where he was responsible for the equity and debt relationships, and joint ventures. In this role, Matt actively engaged in the planning, development, marketing, and lease-up of over 4,000 multi-family units and sourced over $2.5 billion of debt and equity capital during his 12 years at Urban Partners (predecessor to Mack Urban) and Mack Urban, including the acquisition of Harbor Properties. Prior to joining Urban Partners, Matt served as vice president with American International Group (AIG) and SunAmerica, where he ran the West Coast loan origination platform. In this capacity, he placed and managed hundreds of loans over $3.5 billion for the company’s balance sheets.

Matt holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from the College of Arts and Sciences from Georgetown University.
